Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (A Government of Rajasthan Undertaking)
Jaipur Municipal Region had a population of 30.73 lacs in 2011 which is projected to grow to 81.1 lacs in 2031. Jaipur Region , with its present estimated population of 4.45million and employment of 15.55 lakh has a travel demand of 36 lakh passenger trips every day with 3.6 lakh trips performed during peak hour. With growing population and mega development plans coming up for the Pink City, the travel demand is expected to grow steeply. With the growing economy and inadequate public transport services, the passengers shall shift to private modes, which is already evident from the high vehicle ownership trends in the region. This would not only aggravate the congestion on streets but also increase the pollution. Hence, it is essential to plan and provide a Metro Rail System in Jaipur.
Mission- Jaipur Metro Rail Project is for providing the Safer, Greener, Comfortable and Faster Mass Rapid UrbanTransit System by way of Metro Rail in the City of Jaipur.
As per the DPR March, 2012, (Prepared by DMRC): Project is proposed in two Phases.

Current Status:
Phase I (Mansarovar to Badi Chaupar-12.067 kms) (EPC Mode):
Phase-I-A (Mansarovar to Chandpole)- The Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation has entered into an agreement (05.08.2010) with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for development of Phase-I-A from Mansarovar to Chandpole on ‘deposit work’ basis covering a length of 9.718 kms. Presently, DMRC has completed 60% civil works of this part. Electric works for Receiving Sub Station (RSS) and Over Head Electrification (OHE) are in progress. Work orders for rolling Stock, Signaling & Telecommunication, Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) have been awarded.
Phase-I-B (Chandpole to Badi Chaupar) – Phase-I-B (Chandpole to Badi Chaupar) covering a length of 2.349 kms is proposed to be developed by JMRC at its own or through DMRC on deposit work basis.
Phase II (Amba Bari to Sitapura -23.099 kms) (PPP Mode) :
Phase-II is proposed to be developed on PPP Mode. The bidding of PPP Partner for this phase II is under process. Consequent to R.F.Q. issued on 14.03.2011 for short listing of Concessionaire, following 4 Companies / Consortia have been short listed for participation in RFP:
1. Gammon Infrastructures - Irridium Concession
2. Soma-I.C.F.
3. Reliance Infrastructure
4. Essar Projects-Samsung C.N.T.
Post facto approval of RFQ to be accorded by PPPAC is under process. R.F.P. has to be issued with prior approval of PPPAC, GoI.
